Role & responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise Oracle database solutions.
- Design highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient Oracle database architectures.
- Provide technical leadership across Oracle database modernization, migration, upgrade, and consolidation initiatives.
- Design and implement Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, GoldenGate, Exadata, and disaster-recovery solutions.
- Evaluate existing database environments and recommend improvements for performance, scalability, availability, and cost optimization.
- Develop database architecture standards, technology roadmaps, design patterns, and best practices.
- Lead Oracle database migrations to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and other cloud environments.
- Perform database performance analysis and tuning using tools such as AWR, ADDM, OEM, and SQL Tuning Advisor.
- Design backup, recovery, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability strategies.
- Ensure database environments comply with enterprise security, governance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with application architects, infrastructure teams, DevOps teams, security teams, and business stakeholders.
- Review technical designs, provide architecture recommendations, and conduct design/code reviews.
- Troubleshoot complex database, performance, connectivity, replication, and production issues.
- Lead capacity planning, technology assessments, proof-of-concepts, and architecture evaluations.
- Define and support database automation, monitoring, patching, and lifecycle-management strategies.
- Prepare architecture documents, technical specifications, migration plans, implementation guides, and operational documentation.
- Mentor database engineers and architects and promote best practices across the technical team.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Oracle Database Administration, Engineering, Solution Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture.
- Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database 19c/21c and enterprise database architecture.
- Proven experience designing and implementing Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, GoldenGate, and Exadata environments.
- Strong expertise in Oracle database performance tuning, including AWR, ADDM, execution plans, SQL tuning, and database optimization.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle database cloud migration/modernization.
- Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup/recovery, replication, security, and business continuity.
- Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database queries and application performance issues.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, Python, CI/CD, and DevOps automation is an advantage.
- Experience integrating Oracle databases with enterprise applications, APIs, ETL platforms, and data-integration solutions.
- Strong understanding of database security, encryption, access controls, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Experience creating HLD/LLD, architecture diagrams, technical specifications, migration strategies, and technology roadmaps.
- Solid stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and drive architecture decisions.
- Oracle certifications such as OCP, Oracle Database certifications, or OCI certifications are preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; master's degree is an advantage.
