Role & responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, highly available, and resilient enterprise infrastructure solutions.
- Define infrastructure architecture, technology standards, reference architectures, and long-term technology roadmaps.
- Design and optimize cloud, on-premises, hybrid-cloud, and multi-cloud infrastructure environments.
- Evaluate business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Design compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containerization, and cloud infrastructure architectures.
- Architect and implement solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware, Kubernetes, and enterprise data-center environments.
- Define high-availability, disaster-recovery, backup, business-continuity, and fault-tolerance strategies.
- Drive infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, data-center transformation, and technology rationalization initiatives.
- Establish Infrastructure-as-Code and automation practices using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting.
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to implement CI/CD, DevSecOps, containerization, and platform automation.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions comply with enterprise security, governance, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Design network and security architectures covering firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, DNS, IAM, segmentation, and secure connectivity.
- Define monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, capacity planning, and performance-management strategies.
- Identify infrastructure risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for performance and cost optimization.
- Lead architecture reviews,
proof-of-concepts, technology evaluations, and vendor assessments.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, and operations teams.
- Develop HLD/LLD documents, architecture diagrams, technical standards, implementation plans, and operational documentation.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, application architects, security teams, vendors, and senior IT leadership.
- Mentor infrastructure engineers and promote architecture and operational best practices.
- Support major production incidents and provide architectural direction for complex infrastructure problems.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Architecture, or Enterprise IT.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale infrastructure and cloud solutions.
- Strong expertise in one or more major cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP, with knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of compute, storage, networking, virtualization, operating systems, containers, and enterprise data-center technologies.
- Hands-on experience with VMware, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, or equivalent virtualization/container platforms.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, load balancing, routing, and network security.
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or other Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration-management technologies.
- Good scripting/programming knowledge in Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting.
- Experience implementing CI/CD, DevOps, DevSecOps, automation, monitoring, and observability solutions.
- Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, security, IAM, and infrastructure resilience.
- Experience with infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, technology transformation, or data-center migration projects.
- Robust knowledge of infrastructure security, governance, compliance, vulnerability management, and patch management.
- Experience with infrastructure cost optimization and capacity planning.
- Strong ability to create HLD/LLD, architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and technology roadmaps.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and technical leadership skills.
- Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and coordinating cross-functional projects.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Architect, VMware VCP, CKA, Red Hat, ITIL, CISSP, or CISM are preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline; master's degree is an advantage.
