About the Role

ORCHIDS The International School is seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Music Teacher to inspire students through music and develop their musical abilities. The ideal candidate will have strong musical knowledge, excellent classroom management skills, and the ability to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.

The Music Teacher will be responsible for delivering age-appropriate music education, preparing students for school events and performances, and encouraging students to explore their creativity and confidence through music.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging music lessons for students across different age groups.
- Teach fundamental concepts of music, including rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and musical appreciation.
- Provide training in vocal music and/or instruments based on expertise.
- Develop students' singing, instrumental, performance, and listening skills.
- Prepare students for school assemblies, annual functions, competitions, concerts, celebrations, and other events.
- Conduct music rehearsals and coordinate performances.
- Identify and nurture students with special musical talent and encourage their participation in competitions and external platforms.
- Introduce students to a variety of musical genres, cultures, and traditions.
- Maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Assess students' progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary learning and school activities.
- Maintain and responsibly manage musical instruments and other music-room resources.




- Participate actively in school meetings, training programs, workshops, and extracurricular activities.
- Maintain appropriate documentation related to lesson plans, student progress, and activities.
- Support the school's values, policies, safeguarding standards, and overall academic and co-curricular objectives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Music or a relevant field; formal certification/diploma in music will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of music theory and practical music.
- Proficiency in vocal music and/or at least one musical instrument.
- Prior teaching experience in a school or educational institution is preferred.
- Valuable communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement abilities.
- Creativity, patience, enthusiasm, and a child-centric approach.
- Ability to organize and manage musical performances and events.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school team.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working with children from different age groups.
- Knowledge of Western and/or Indian classical music.
- Ability to teach keyboard/piano, guitar, drums, Indian instruments, or other relevant instruments.
- Experience preparing student groups, choirs, bands, or ensembles for performances.
- Familiarity with digital music tools and basic audio-visual equipment.
- Experience participating in or organizing inter-school music competitions and cultural events.
