Job Responsibilities – Field Service EngineerCNC Fabric Spreading and Cutting Machines

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support of CNC automatic fabric spreading and cutting machines at customer locations.

- Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, commission, test, and demonstrate CNC fabric spreading and automatic cutting machines at customer sites.
- Conduct pre-installation site inspections and verify electrical supply, compressed air, earthing, UPS/stabilizer, temperature, space, and other utility requirements.
- Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, machine calibration, alignment, and performance optimisation.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, motion-control, vacuum-system, sensor, servo-motor, and communication-related problems.
- Troubleshoot machine software, controller, operating system, network connectivity, CAD/CAM data-transfer, nesting, spreading, and cutting-process issues.
- Replace and configure machine components such as sensors, drives, motors, control boards, relays, belts, bearings, cutting heads, sharpening units, vacuum components, and pneumatic parts.
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel in machine operation, daily maintenance, safety procedures, material handling, spreading parameters, cutting settings, and basic troubleshooting.
- Monitor machine performance, including spreading accuracy, cutting quality, productivity, vacuum efficiency, blade condition, sharpening quality,



and material utilisation.
- Recommend appropriate machine settings according to fabric type, lay height, marker complexity, cutting speed, acceleration, vacuum level, and quality requirements.
- Attend customer service calls promptly and ensure minimum machine downtime through effective fault diagnosis and corrective action.
- Prepare and submit installation reports, service reports, preventive-maintenance checklists, machine-condition reports, spare-parts recommendations, and customer acknowledgements.
- Maintain complete records of machine history, recurring faults, replaced parts, software versions, and corrective actions.
- Provide remote technical assistance through telephone, video calls, and online diagnostic tools whenever required.
- Coordinate with internal service teams, spare-parts departments, sales teams, and OEM technical specialists for timely problem resolution.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the OEM with complete diagnostic information, photographs, videos, error logs, and service observations.
- Manage tools, testing instruments, service spares, consumables, and demonstration materials entrusted to the engineer.
- Support Annual Maintenance Contract activities,



warranty services, machine health checks, and customer-retention initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for machine upgrades, software updates, operator retraining, preventive-maintenance contracts, and replacement of ageing components.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer safety requirements, and electrical and mechanical safety standards during all service activities.
- Maintain professional communication and build strong working relationships with customers, operators, production teams, and factory management.
- Travel extensively to customer locations and provide service support outside normal working hours when required.

Preferred Qualification and Skills :

- Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Industrial Automation Engineering. A Diploma in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Practical knowledge of CNC machinery, industrial automation, PLCs, servo drives, sensors, electrical control panels, pneumatic systems, and mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, pneumatic circuits, mechanical drawings, and machine manuals.
- Valuable analytical, fault-finding, customer-handling, communication, and reporting skills.
- Experience with automatic fabric spreading machines, CNC fabric cutting machines, CAD/CAM systems, or garment-manufacturing equipment will be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work independently at customer sites.
