JOB DESCRIPTION – MACHINE ASSEMBLY FITTER

Job Role

We are looking for a Machine Assembly Fitter for our machine manufacturing unit. The person will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, fitting, alignment, testing, and installation of industrial machines as per drawings and instructions.

- Main ResponsibilitiesAssemble complete machines and mechanical assemblies as per engineering/assembly drawings.
- Fit and assemble machine frames, plates, brackets, shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys, couplings, slides, guideways, etc.
- Perform fitting, drilling, tapping, filing, grinding, and deburring work wherever required during machine assembly.
- Install and properly align bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motors, lead screws, ball screws, guideways, and other mechanical parts.
- Carry out proper machine leveling and alignment using dial gauges, spirit levels, vernier calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Check dimensions, clearances, and fitting of components before and after assembly.
- Assemble hydraulic and pneumatic components, including cylinders, valves, pipes, fittings, and hoses, as required.
- Follow proper procedures for tightening bolts, nuts, fasteners, and mechanical assemblies.
- Identify problems such as improper fitting, alignment, vibration, excessive play, or abnormal movement and rectify them.
- Assist the production team during machine trial and testing.
- Make necessary adjustments during machine testing to achieve smooth and accurate machine operation.
- Coordinate with the machining, electrical, and design teams for resolving assembly-related problems.
- Assist in final machine assembly, finishing, inspection, and preparation for dispatch.
- Assist in machine installation and commissioning at customer sites, whenever required.
- Maintain tools, measuring instruments,



and assembly equipment properly.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping at the workplace.
- Follow all safety procedures and company instructions while working on machines and tools.

Required Practical SkillsThe candidate should be able to:

- Read and understand mechanical drawings and assembly drawings.
- Identify common mechanical components and understand their correct installation.
- Use hand tools such as spanners, Allen keys, hammers, torque wrenches, pullers, drills, grinders, etc.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as vernier caliper, micrometer, dial gauge, and height gauge.
- Perform basic mechanical fitting and alignment work.
- Understand basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical problems during machine assembly and testing.
- Work with minimum supervision and complete assigned assembly work within the required time.

QualificationITI – Fitter / Mechanical Fitter preferred.

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.

Experience2–5 years of experience in machine assembly, industrial machinery, CNC machines, special-purpose machines, hydraulic machines, or similar manufacturing industries is preferred.

Fresh ITI candidates with valuable practical fitting skills may also be considered.

Working ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be expected to take responsibility for the complete mechanical assembly of machines from component level to final machine testing, including fitting, alignment, adjustments, troubleshooting, and support during installation/commissioning.

Salary: As per experience and technical skills.
