To perform laboratory investigations accurately and efficiently, following approved SOPs, quality standards, biosafety requirements, and laboratory policies, while ensuring proper sample handling, testing, documentation, and reporting.
A. Sample Collection & Handling
- Collect blood and other clinical specimens as per SOP.
- Verify patient identification and test requisitions before collection.
- Ensure correct labeling, storage, transportation, and processing of specimens.
- Identify and appropriately handle unsuitable/rejected samples.
- Maintain proper sample traceability.
B. Laboratory Testing
- Perform routine laboratory investigations as assigned.
- Operate laboratory equipment and analyzers according to manufacturer instructions and SOPs.
- Perform testing in areas such as:
- Clinical Biochemistry
- Hematology
- Clinical Pathology
- Serology/Immunology
- Other assigned laboratory sections
- Ensure accurate recording of test results.
- Report critical/abnormal results according to laboratory policy.
C. Quality Control
- Perform internal quality control as required.
- Monitor QC results and immediately inform the concerned senior in case of deviations.
- Participate in calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Follow laboratory quality management procedures.
- Assist in EQAS/PT activities where applicable.
D. Equipment & Maintenance
- Operate instruments safely and correctly.
- Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain equipment logbooks and maintenance records.
- Report instrument breakdowns or abnormalities to the concerned authority.
E. Documentation
- Maintain test worksheets, registers, QC records, temperature records, maintenance logs, and other required documents.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of laboratory activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.
- Perform investigations as per SOP.
- Run QC and process patient samples.
- Monitor analyzer performance.
- Maintain accuracy and precision of testing.
Post-Analytical
- Verify and document results as per defined procedures.
- Communicate critical values promptly.
- Ensure proper storage/retention or disposal of specimens.
- Maintain confidentiality of reports.
Qualifications
- DMLT / B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology / equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and safety practices.
