We are looking for an experienced accounting and tax professional with hands-on exposure to Australian tax returns and bookkeeping processes to join SBA's Kolkata Operations team.  About the role This is a senior delivery role for someone who understands the standards, deadlines and attention to detail expected when supporting Australian accounting and tax engagements. The successful candidate will work across bookkeeping, tax return preparation and related accounting processes, while also helping maintain quality and consistency across the team. Key responsibilities • Prepare and review Australian individual and business tax return workpapers and supporting schedules in accordance with client instructions and established processes. • Complete and review day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including transaction coding, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger maintenance. • Assist with BAS/GST-related bookkeeping and preparation processes where required, ensuring source records are complete and reconciled. • Review accounting records for accuracy, identify anomalies or missing information, and raise clear queries for resolution. • Maintain accurate working papers, checklists, file notes and audit trails for work completed. • Apply strong self-review and quality-control practices before work is submitted for further review or to the client. • Support junior team members with process guidance, technical queries and quality feedback. • Work closely with SBA team leaders and Australian clients to manage priorities, turnaround times and service expectations. • Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting and tax workflows, templates and internal procedures. What we are looking for • Demonstrated experience working on Australian tax return and bookkeeping processes is essential. • Strong practical understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliations,



general ledger processes and accounting workpapers. • Experience working with Australian accounting software such as Xero is highly desirable; exposure to other Australian practice or tax software will be well regarded. • Good working knowledge of Australian GST/BAS concepts and common bookkeeping requirements. • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to self-checking and quality assurance. • Ability to interpret client instructions, identify gaps in information and communicate queries clearly and professionally. • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data and supporting schedules. • Good written and spoken English, with the ability to work effectively with Australian stakeholders. • A relevant qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance. CA, CMA, CPA or equivalent progress/qualification will be viewed favourably.
