Job Description – Email System Support Administrator
1. Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Linux & Email System Support Engineer to provide onsite support and maintenance for the client’s email infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for Linux based email system monitoring, troubleshooting, OEM coordination, patching, backup support, and DC/DR activities.
2. Qualification & Experience:
- Graduate in Engineering / IT / Computer Science or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Enterprise mailing systems or linux systems administration.
- Good understanding of Linux fundamentals and system administration.
- Working knowledge of enterprise email/open-source mailing systems and related technologies.
- Positive understanding on email terminology and protocols such as:
- SMTP
- IMAP
- POP/Fetch Mail
- Mail Relay
- Postfix
- NDR/FDR
- Mail Queue and Mail Flow
3. Roles & Responsibilities:
A. Email System & Linux Administration
- Maintain and support the existing Netcore email solution deployed at the client location.
- Perform administration and maintenance of the Linux operating systems supporting the email infrastructure.
- Maintain and troubleshoot all relevant software and hardware components of the email solution.
- Monitor mail traffic, including incoming/fetched and outgoing emails.
- Monitor mail queues, delivery status, failures, NDRs, and other email-related issues.
- Perform installation, configuration, reconfiguration, troubleshooting, restoration, and recovery of:
- Operating systems
- Mailing software
- Licenses
- Related infrastructure components
B. Incident & User Support
- Attend and resolve incidents, service requests, and queries raised by users/client teams.
- Provide timely responses and regular updates through phone/email/ticketing systems.
- Troubleshoot email delivery, connectivity, configuration, and system-related issues.
- Ensure all incidents and service requests are handled within the defined SLA requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation of incidents, resolutions, and configuration changes.
C. OEM / Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with Netcore and other OEM/vendor support teams for troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues.
- Raise and manage OEM/vendor support tickets and ensure timely closure.
- Follow up on open tickets and escalate issues wherever required.
- Coordinate with OEM engineers for:
- Configuration changes
- Software upgrades
- Security patches
- Bug fixes
- Vulnerability remediation
- Planned maintenance activities
D. DC / DR / FDR Support
- Manage and maintain the email infrastructure deployed across DC, DR, and FDR sites.
- Participate in and execute DC/DR drills as per the client’s requirements and policies.
- Support scheduled half-yearly DR drills and document the results.
- Assist in restoration and recovery activities during DR exercises and actual incidents.
- Ensure the required services and configurations are validated after DR activities.
E. Security, Patching & Hardening
- Ensure operating systems and mailing software are appropriately hardened and securely configured.
- Apply the latest approved OS patches, security updates,
and application patches.
- Coordinate with Netcore/OEM teams for security updates and fixes related to identified bugs and vulnerabilities.
- Support remediation activities arising from security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Ensure configuration and patching activities are properly documented.
F. Backup & Recovery
- Assist in configuring and maintaining system backups as per client requirements.
- Verify backup status and report backup failures or issues.
- Support restoration and recovery of systems/data when required.
- Participate in periodic backup and recovery validation activities.
4. Working Hours & Onsite Requirement:
- Engineer will be required to work onsite from Monday to Friday.
- Regular working hours: 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Engineer should be available beyond regular working hours for planned maintenance, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, or vendor coordination, whenever required.
- The engineer may also be required to work on Saturdays/Sundays or other non-working days for activities such as:
- DC/DR drills
- Planned upgrades
- Maintenance activities
- Major configuration changes
- OEM/vendor-supported activities
