About the team
The team builds and runs the consumer web experiences for News, Sports and Gaming, along with the ad-monetization layer that sits underneath them, across four markets: India, the US, Brazil, Indonesia and Japan. We are a small, senior team of ten engineers that owns everything from the shared serving and BFF layer to the pixels on the page, and we ship to tens of millions of users. Our roadmap for the next year includes a new content-as-value-units experience for News, video and microdrama surfaces, Game Center monetization, and recovering ad yield in Brazil.
What you will do:
- Ship product UI. Build and ship consumer-facing web surfaces for News, Sports and Gaming: article and listing pages, video and microdrama experiences, league and match pages, and Game Center flows.
- Integrate monetization. Implement and maintain the on-page ad components (header bidding / prebid slots, GAM ad units, lazy-loading and viewability logic) so that monetization works without hurting page performance.
- Keep it fast. Own Core Web Vitals for the surfaces you touch. Profile, fix and prevent regressions in LCP, INP and CLS on SSR/SSG pages served at high traffic.
- Work across the stack boundary. Build against our shared BFF/serving layer, propose sensible API shapes, and handle localization, RTL-secure layouts and market-specific variants for IN, US, BR and JP.
- Test and instrument. Write component and integration tests, wire up analytics and experiment flags, and monitor what you ship in production.
- Improve the system. Contribute to the shared component library and design tokens; pair with design to turn Figma specs into accessible, responsive, reusable components.
- Operate like a team member. Give and receive code reviews, write short design notes for medium-sized features,
and participate in on-call rotation for the surfaces you own once ramped.
What we are looking for/ Must have:
- 2 to 5 years building production web frontends, with at least one consumer-scale product (high traffic, SEO-sensitive, or ad-supported) in that history.
- Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript, including a solid grasp of the browser: rendering, the event loop, hydration, and how to debug a slow page with DevTools.
- Hands-on experience with Svelte / SvelteKit, Astro, or an equivalent component or MVC framework (Vue/Nuxt, React/Next.js, Solid). We care about the fundamentals more than the specific framework, but you should be productive in Svelte and Astro within a few weeks.
- Server-side rendering and static generation in practice: streaming, caching strategies, edge/CDN behaviour, and the trade-offs between SSR, SSG and client rendering.
- Semantic HTML and CSS you would be happy to defend in review: layout, responsive design, and accessibility (WCAG 2.x, keyboard and screen-reader basics).
- Comfort consuming REST/GraphQL APIs from a BFF, handling loading/error states and partial data cleanly.
- Testing discipline: unit and component tests (Vitest/Jest, Testing Library) and at least some end-to-end experience (Playwright or Cypress).
- Clear written communication in English and the ability to work with a distributed team across IN and US hours.
Nice to have
- Ad-tech exposure: Prebid.js, Google Ad Manager (GPT), viewability and lazy-load patterns, consent frameworks (TCF/GPP), or identity solutions such as ID5.
- Experience with video players (HLS/DASH, ad insertion) or short-form / episodic content UIs.
- Internationalization for non-Latin scripts (Japanese) and Portuguese/Hindi locales.
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms and analytics instrumentation.
- Contributions to a design system or shared component library.
