Role Summary:
The Senior PMO will be responsible for establishing and governing project/program management standards across the organization, ensuring portfolio-level visibility, driving delivery discipline, and acting as a strategic advisor to leadership on project health, risks, and resource allocation. This role blends governance, mentorship, and hands-on oversight of complex, cross-functional programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and continuously improve PMO frameworks, and governance processes across the organization
- Provide portfolio-level oversight — track status, budgets, timelines, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent projects/programs
- Partner with senior leadership and stakeholders to align project priorities with business strategy
- Lead risk and issue management processes; escalate critical risks with mitigation recommendations
- Drive resource planning and capacity management across project teams
- Establish and report on KPIs/metrics for project health, delivery velocity, and portfolio performance to leadership/steering committees
- Mentor and manage junior PMO analysts/coordinators and project managers
- Standardize reporting (status decks, dashboards, RAID logs) and ensure consistent stakeholder communication
- Lead change management and process improvement initiatives within the PMO function
- Support vendor/contract governance where projects involve external partners
- Facilitate steering committee meetings, gate reviews, and post-implementation reviews
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
• PMP, PRINCE2, or PgMP certification strongly preferred
• Proven experience running enterprise-level PMOs or large program portfolios
• Strong command of project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Planview, or similar)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint and dashboarding tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
• Strong analytical and risk-management capabilities
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models
• Ability to influence without direct authority across cross-functional teams
Valuable to have:
• Experience in IT services, Consulting businesses
• Familiarity with financial/budget management for large programs
• Change management certification (Prosci, etc.)
• Experience setting up a PMO function from scratch
