Job Description:
The Technician in Laboratory Medicine will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests and procedures to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. This role involves operating laboratory equipment, preparing samples, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results. The technician will also maintain laboratory standards, adhere to safety protocols, and support the overall functioning of the lab. Responsibilities include processing specimens, performing routine and specialized laboratory tests, recording and analyzing data, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
Collect, process, and analyze biological samples from patients.
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
Ensure compliance with quality control and safety standards.
Document test results and communicate findings to healthcare team members.
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Assist in the training and orientation of recent staff members.




Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain organized and accurate laboratory records.

Skills and Tools Required:
Robust knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment such as microscopes, analyzers, and centrifuges.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
Attention to detail and robust analytical skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Good communication skills for effective interaction with medical staff.
Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
Understanding of safety procedures and protocol compliance.

Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
Certification by a recognized body in laboratory medicine is a plus.
