Pocket FM is one of the world's largest audio storytelling platforms, reaching millions of listeners with serialized fiction across languages and markets. From script to voice to final production, we're built around getting stories to audiences at scale, and sound is at the heart of that experience.
As we expand into the Brazilian Portuguese market and beyond, we're looking for people who understand what makes a story land, and who care as much about craft as they do about scale.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Sound Engineer to bring our shows to life for Brazilian Portuguese listeners. You'll take localized voice-over and existing production assets, and rebuild each show's soundscape from the ground up- dialogue, music, sound effects, ambience, transitions, and mix- until it feels like it was made for that audience from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end audio post-production for full-length shows and episodes localized into Brazilian Portuguese, editing, cleaning, synchronizing, and integrating dialogue and voice-over into the production
- Rebuild the show's soundscape (dialogue, music, SFX, ambience, Foley, transitions) using available stems where possible, or reconstructing from the original mixed master when stems aren't available, using source-separation and restoration tools as needed
- Handle dialogue cleanup, noise reduction, EQ, and dynamics processing, mixing everything into polished stereo masters
- Protect the original show's sound design, atmosphere, pacing, and emotional tone,
so localized episodes stay true to the source while sounding completely natural to Brazilian Portuguese audiences
- Keep loudness, dialogue treatment, and mix quality consistent across episodes, stay organized with sessions, stems, and delivery files, and run technical and creative QC before anything ships
- Take feedback across creative, localization, and technical inputs in stride, and work closely with localization, creative, content, and QC teams to keep a high-volume episodic pipeline moving
Requirements
- 3+ years in audio post-production, ideally on long-form or episodic storytelling- audio dramas, fiction podcasts, film, TV, series, games, or narrative digital content
- Strong skills across dialogue/voice-over editing, audio cleanup and restoration, sound design, music editing, ambience/SFX editing, audio sync, and stereo mixing and mastering
- Solid grasp of stems, multitrack sessions, versioning, and delivery workflows, with experience working from both separated stems and completed stereo mixes
- An ear for recreating or closely matching the soundscape and creative intent of an existing production
- Comfortable in a professional DAW (Pro Tools preferred), with hands-on experience using restoration and source-separation tools like iZotope RX
- Sharp attention to dialogue intelligibility, sync, continuity, loudness, and mix consistency, plus qualified English and solid remote collaboration skills
