Principal Software Engineer – Android

About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Engineer to drive the technical direction,
architecture, performance, and engineering excellence of our Android applications.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring deep Android expertise, strong
architectural judgment, analytical thinking, and the ability to influence engineering teams and
technical decisions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
● Own and drive the Android architecture and long-term technical strategy for
large-scale consumer applications.
● Design scalable, maintainable, and highly performant solutions across application
architecture, networking, modularization, and platform capabilities.
● Work hands-on with complex Android codebases and lead modernization of legacy
Java and Kotlin systems.
● Drive adoption of modern Android technologies, particularly Kotlin, Coroutines,
Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture patterns.
● Lead performance engineering using production data, telemetry, Android Vitals,




crash/ANR metrics, and other engineering signals.
● Design and optimize applications consuming high-volume REST APIs, with emphasis
on latency, caching, concurrency, reliability, and productive data handling.
● Own technical aspects of the Google Play ecosystem, including publishing, release
management, Play Store listings, and monitoring Android Vitals.
● Define and drive automated testing strategies covering unit, Android/instrumentation,
integration, and black-box testing.
● Identify technical risks and drive initiatives to improve engineering quality, reliability,
maintainability, and developer productivity.
● Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership through architecture reviews,
design discussions, and engineering standards.
● Collaborate with product, backend, design, and other engineering teams to deliver
robust end-to-end solutions.
