Job Title: Junior Embryologist
Department: IVF / Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)
Reporting To: Senior Embryologist / IVF Lab Director
Job Summary
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Laboratory Duties
- Assist in handling and identification of gametes (oocytes and sperm).
- Support procedures such as:
- Semen analysis and sperm preparation
- Oocyte identification and grading
- IVF / ICSI procedures (under supervision)
- Embryo culture and grading
- Cryopreservation (embryo, sperm, oocyte)
- Embryo transfer preparation
- Maintain proper documentation of laboratory procedures.
- Monitor incubators, gas levels, and lab temperature.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and clean-room protocols.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow ART guidelines and ethical standards.
- Ensure proper record-keeping and patient confidentiality.
- Assist in internal audits and NABH/ART compliance documentation.
- Maintain inventory of lab consumables and media.
Equipment Handling
- Operate and maintain:
- Microscopes
- Incubators
- Laminar airflow systems
- Cryostorage tanks
- Report equipment malfunction to senior staff immediately.
Eligibility CriteriaEducational Qualification
- M.Sc. in Clinical Embryology / Reproductive Biology / Biotechnology / Life Sciences
- OR
- Postgraduate degree recognized under ART Act guidelines.
Experience
- 0-2 years of experience in IVF laboratory (Freshers with certified embryology training may apply).
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of ART laboratory procedures
- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ethical and patient-centric approach
- Good documentation skills
Working Conditions
- Exposure to biological samples.
- Rotational shifts, including weekends (as per IVF schedule).
- High precision and sterile setting.
