Expertise in CFD and External & Internal Aero (Subsonic to Hypersonic Regime). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of gas dynamics and shock interactions, aerodynamics, and possess excellent problem solving skills to deliver high-quality simulations for various projects. Function as a solution specialist in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics using simulation tools such as ANSYS FLUENT, Chemkin or Star CCM+, ANSYS CFX.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform aerodynamic simulations across subsonic, transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic regimes using CFD tools (e.g., Ansys Fluent) to evaluate external airframe and internal duct/propulsion flow performance.
- Analyze complex flow phenomena such as shock formation, expansion waves, separation, and Shockwave–Boundary Layer Interaction, ensuring accurate prediction of pressure, temperature, and heat flux distributions.
- Set up and execute CFD models for external flows (wings, fuselage, control surfaces) and internal flows (intakes, nozzles, ducts), applying appropriate boundary conditions, compressibility effects,
and gas dynamic principles.
- Apply advanced turbulence models — RANS, LES, DES, or hybrid methods — and justify their selection based on flow regime, Reynolds number,and accuracy requirements.
- Generate high-quality meshes for complex geometries using structured, unstructured, or hybrid approaches, ensuring proper near-wall resolution (y⁺ control) and grid independence for reliable aerodynamic predictions.
- Conduct 6DOF energetic simulations using dynamic and overset meshes to study vehicle motion, stability, and control behaviour during free-flight or moving-bodyscenarios.
- Post-process and analyse CFD results, extracting aerodynamic coefficients (Cl, Cd, Cm), flow visualization plots (Mach contours, Cp distributions), and force/moment data for design evaluation and optimization.
