Job Description- Receive, register, and process blood donors and recipients as per hospital protocol.
- Perform blood collection (both voluntary and replacement donors) ensuring donor safety and comfort.
- Conduct pre-donation screening including hemoglobin estimation, medical history review, and vital signs assessment.
- Label and document all collected blood units and samples accurately in accordance with regulatory norms.
- Perform mandatory testing of all collected blood for transfusion-transmissible infections (TTIs), blood grouping, and crossmatching.
- Assist in the preparation, separation, and storage of blood components (PRBC, FFP, Platelets, Cryoprecipitate)



as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain temperature logs and ensure all refrigerators, freezers, and platelet agitators are functioning within prescribed limits.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure timely discard of outdated or unusable blood units following biomedical waste guidelines.
- Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques, infection control, and transfusion safety protocols.
- Prepare and issue blood and blood components to various clinical departments as per physician requests.
- Maintain all records, registers, and documentation as per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and hospital policy.
- Participate in internal and external audits, quality assurance, and calibration activities.
- Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, and other departments for productive blood transfusion services.
