Assess patients condition before surgery.
- Ensure that the Operating Room is prepared with all necessary supplies, implants, instrumentation, and equipment.
- receive patients and take them from the preparation room to the OT, making sure they are ready for surgery.
- To monitor the condition and take care of patient during operation, and post operatively in recovery room.
- Preparing patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting areas to be operated on.
- To prepare the trolley of anesthesia.
- Prepare own self by using sterile technique like scrubbing, gowning and gloving.
- Assist the surgeon in draping the patient aseptically according to routine procedure.
- Prepares sutures and needles according to use.
- To check Oxygen, Carbon dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, emergency drugs, crush trolley etc & keep them ready at hand.
- Ensures that the entire specimen are properly labeled and signed.
- Reposition the patient per anesthesiologist’s instruction.
- Remove excess instrument from the sterile field.
- Collect specimens for laboratory tests.




- Arrange the instrument on the mayo table and on the back table.
- Adhere to the policy regarding sponge/ instruments count/ surgical needles.
- Maintain the OT register.
- Keep the operating room sterilized.
- Position the patient on operating table.
- Follow biomedical waste disposal protocols.
- Follow infection control policies and procedures.
- Stocking operating rooms with sterile surgical equipment, linens, and supplies.
- Updating patient files and medical records.
- Assisting with the ordering, maintenance, and secure storage of surgical equipment and supplies.
- Communicate continuously with operating team & other medical staff regarding surgeries.
- Prepare timely & accurate records of patient history & recovery charts.
- To count all instruments and mops before closing the wounds.
- Monitor patient’s vital signs.
