The IT Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computer systems, hardware, and related IT infrastructure within the engineering college. The role ensures uninterrupted functioning of computer labs, faculty systems, administrative offices, and networked devices to support academic and administrative activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hardware Installation & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and upgrade desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance of computer lab systems.
- Diagnose and repair hardware faults including motherboard, RAM, SMPS, HDD/SSD, monitors, keyboards, etc.
- Replace defective components and maintain inventory of spare parts.

2. Lab Management & Support
- Ensure smooth functioning of computer laboratories.
- Set up systems for practical sessions and examinations.
- Install required software for engineering departments (C, C++, MATLAB, AutoCAD, tally etc.).
- Provide technical support during events, workshops, and seminars.

Network & Connectivity Support
- Assist in maintaining LAN/Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Troubleshoot basic network issues (IP conflicts, cable faults, switch issues).
- Coordinate with network administrator for major issues.

4. Software Installation & Troubleshooting
- Install and configure operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Install licensed software as per academic requirements.
- Remove viruses and ensure system security updates.
- Perform data backup and recovery when required.

5. IT Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain records of IT assets and equipment.
- Track AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) details.
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement and repairs.
- Maintain documentation of repairs and service history.

6. User Support
- Provide in office and remote support to faculty and staff.
- Resolve complaints related to hardware and system performance.
