- Inspect welding work at different stages including fit-up, root welding, intermediate and final welding.
- Check weld quality for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, overlap, lack of fusion and lack of penetration.
- Verify fit-up and joint preparation, including root gap, alignment, bevel angle and weld dimensions before welding.
- Ensure welding is carried out as per approved WPS, drawings, specifications and required welding parameters.
- Inspect steel fabrication work for dimensional accuracy, alignment, cutting, assembly and overall workmanship.
- Monitor welding consumables and ensure proper storage, handling and usage of electrodes and wires.
- Coordinate NDT activities such as UT, DPT/PT, MPT/MT and visual inspection, and review the test reports.
- Identify and report quality issues/NCRs and ensure defective welds are repaired and re-inspected.
- Maintain inspection records, including welding inspection reports, fit-up reports, weld repair records and NDT reports.
- Coordinate with Production, QA/QC and Engineering teams to maintain the required quality standards and ensure defect-free steel fabrication.
