An experienced NSX VMware Virtualization L3 Engineer to design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot VMware NSX and virtualization environments. The role requires strong expertise in network virtualization, VMware vSphere, NSX-T/NSX, routing, switching, security policies, and enterprise-level troubleshooting. The candidate will act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and support implementation, operations, and continuous improvement of virtualized network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, deploy, configure, and support VMware NSX-T/NSX network virtualization solutions.
- Manage NSX components including NSX Managers, Tier-0/Tier-1 gateways, logical switches, segments, distributed firewalls, and edge nodes.
- Provide L3-level troubleshooting for complex issues related to overlay and underlay networking, routing, switching, MTU, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VXLAN/Geneve, and connectivity.
- Integrate NSX with VMware vSphere, ESXi hosts, vCenter, and physical network infrastructure such as ToR switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Implement and maintain micro-segmentation, distributed firewall rules, security groups, and traffic policies.
- Monitor performance, availability, and capacity of VMware virtualization and NSX environments.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support change management, patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management of VMware and NSX platforms.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, deployment guides, standard operating procedures, and as-built documents.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, network, storage, compute, and application teams for project delivery and incident resolution.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T/NSX deployment, operations, and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, distributed switches, clusters, HA, DRS,



and virtual networking.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLAN, trunking, routing, switching, NAT, DNS, DHCP, firewalling, and load balancing.
- Experience with dynamic routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- Understanding of overlay networking concepts including VXLAN/Geneve, tunnel endpoints, edge transport nodes, and transport zones.
- Hands-on experience with distributed firewall, micro-segmentation, security policies, and traffic flow analysis.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance, packet flow, routing, connectivity, and security-related issues in enterprise environments.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery, and capacity planning tools for VMware environments.

Desired Skills

- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, vRealize/Aria Operations, vRealize/Aria Automation, or similar VMware ecosystem tools.
- Exposure to automation or scripting using PowerCLI, Ansible, Python, or REST APIs.
- Experience in multi-site NSX deployments, stretched clusters, disaster recovery, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Knowledge of security compliance, audit requirements, and infrastructure hardening practices.
- Certifications such as VCP-NV, VCP-DCV, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.

Experience

- 7+ years of experience in VMware virtualization and enterprise network infrastructure support.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware NSX/NSX-T administration or deployment.
- Experience working in enterprise data center, managed services, or customer-facing infrastructure support environments.
