Role Description The General Embedded Developer will design, implement, and maintain embedded software solutions for the non-safety-critical firmware layer. This role owns the firmware on the higher-level in-vehicle device (GSM module), which handles telemetry, FOTA, and remote management. The developer will participate in requirements analysis, system architecture discussions, and code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices,
performance, and safety standards.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and maintain firmware for the GSM module — a Linux-based (Raspberry Pi-based) device responsible for telemetry forwarding, MQTT communication, and FOTA execution
Implement remote device provisioning and management integration (Azure IoT Hub)
Maintain software/firmware versioning and inventory tracking on the device side
Work with the Core Automotive Embedded Developer to ensure correct data is exposed over CAN and forwarded to the cloud
Ensure OTA update reliability and fallback behavior
Interface with the backend/cloud team on data contracts and MQTT topic structure
Need to have:
Comfortable working on Linux-based embedded targets (the GSM module is Linux/Raspberry Pi-based)
Embedded firmware development — comfortable in C or C++ on constrained devices
Experience with GSM/cellular module firmware or similar communic
