About The Role

Seattle New Media is hiring two motivated interns to support our SEO team in building high-quality backlinks. Working directly with our SEO Lead, you will help grow the search authority and visibility of our brands across Google and AI-driven answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews). This is a hands-on role built for someone who wants to apply what they have learned in a digital-marketing or SEO program to real, live campaigns and see the impact of their work week over week.

While your core focus will be backlink building, you will also get exposure to the wider SEO picture — on-page optimization, content, keyword research, and technical basics — so you build a well-rounded skill set. It is an ideal launchpad for anyone serious about a career in SEO and modern search.

Key Responsibilities

Research and identify relevant, high-authority websites, blogs, directories, and communities for backlink opportunities.
Execute outreach to prospects via email and other channels, follow up consistently, and maintain skilled communication.




Build backlinks through guest posting, business listings, directory submissions, resource pages, forums, Q&A; sites, and profile creation.
Support AEO efforts by earning mentions and citations on the sources that AI answer engines reference.
Track every prospect and link in a shared tracker — status, domain authority, anchor text, and live URL.
Verify that placed links are live, indexed, and follow campaign guidelines; flag toxic or low-quality sites.
Assist the SEO team with related tasks such as on-page optimization, content support, and keyword research as needed.
Report progress weekly against agreed targets and share learnings with the team.

Who We Are Looking For

Must have

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a digital marketing course, with a focus on SEO and AEO, from a recognized training institution.
Working understanding of what backlinks are and why they matter for rankings.
