Purpose To perform routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance of all manufacturing and packing equipment in the OSD (Oral Solid Dosage) facility, ensuring uninterrupted production, equipment reliability, GMP compliance, and overall asset health.
Mechanical Technician/Fitter is responsible for Operation & Maintenance and troubleshooting of all production equipment that supports GMP manufacturing areas with high standards of safety, GMP documentation, and compliance.

Job Responsibilities / Deliverables
Equipment Maintenance – Manufacturing Area
Responsible for the operation, upkeep, and maintenance of the following OSD equipmen
HSMG (High Shear Mixer Granulator)
Mechanical maintenance, lubrication, impeller/chopper alignment, seal checks.
FBD (Fluid Bed Dryer)
Blower maintenance, filter housing, retarding chamber, bag assemblies.
Coater / Tablet Coating Machine
Spray gun cleaning, exhaust blower, gear drives, pan maintenance.
Dust Collector Systems
Filter inspection, differential pressure checks, motor & blower maintenance.
Blender / RMG/ Sifter / Compression Area Utilities (As applicable)
Utility Connections (machine-level): pneumatic lines, vacuum lines, water, etc.
Packaging Machines – Maintenance & Support
Blister Packing Machines
Changeover assistance, sealing station alignment, feeding system maintenance.
Cartoning, Bottle Filling, Labeling & Secondary Packing Machines
Mechanical troubleshooting, drive system checks, belt adjustments, sensor alignment.
Tablet/Capsule Inspection Machines (As applicable)
Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
Execute preventive maintenance for all Manufacturing machines as per SOP & OEM guidelines.
Carry out routine inspection of pumps, valves, bearings, seals, belts, and rotating parts.
Perform lubrication, greasing, tightening, and equipment condition monitoring.
Maintain PM checklists and ensure timely documentation.
Execute PM schedules for all applicable equipment.
Perform condition monitoring (vibration, temperature, noise pattern checks).
Maintain lubrication schedules for mechanical moving parts.
Identify potential failures early and escalate immediately.
Ensure availability of mechanical spare parts and consumables.
Execute preventive maintenance (PM) as per approved schedules.
Ensure minimum downtime during breakdowns through rapid response and diagnosis.
Maintain history sheets, maintenance records, and logs for all equipment.
Diagnose mechanical faults and restore equipment in minimum time.
Tools, Equipment & Workshop Competency
Skilled in using mechanical tools such as spanners, torque wrenches, pullers, dial gauges, vernier callipers.
Skilled in pump dismantling/assembly and rotating equipment repair.
Basic knowledge of workshop machines (drill, grinder, cutting tools).
Documentation & GMP Compliance
Record all maintenance activities in logbooks, PM sheets, and job cards as per GDP.
Follow ALCOA+ principles for maintenance documentation.
Support audits (QA, EHS,
regulatory) with accurate and updated records.
Report deviations, breakages, abnormalities, and support CAPA closure.
Support engineering documentation: logbooks, PM checklists, calibration coordination.
Installation & Commissioning
Assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment in existing/new facility.
Support new piping installations, alignment, and equipment levelling.
Safety & Compliance
Follow Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout Tagout (LOTO) and utility safety protocols.
Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to plant safety standards.
Support EHS inspections and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications Qualification & Experience
ITI Fitter / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
5 years of experience in OSD / Pharma manufacturing plant maintenance.
Hands on experience with OSD equipment: HSMG, FBD, Coater, Blister, Dust Collectors, Packing Machines, etc.
Additional Notes & Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance related to OSD equipment.
Ability to read and interpret machine drawings, PM checklists, P&ID;’s, GA Drawings and SOPs.
Knowledge of pneumatics, basic electrical, and utility interface points.
Troubleshooting capability for mechanical faults.
Understanding of GMP documentation and compliance requirements.
Strong hands‑on mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Basic Knowledge of pumps, compressors, boilers, cooling towers & HVAC mechanicals.
Safety-conscious, reliable, and disciplined.
Basic understanding of GMP expectations for utility operations.
