Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Surgical Oncologist based at Fortis Hospital Mohali in the Mohali district.
The Surgical
Oncologist will evaluate patients with suspected or confirmed cancers, perform detailed clinical assessments, interpret diagnostic imaging and pathology reports, and formulate multidisciplinary treatment plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing oncologic surgeries (including breast and other solid organ malignancies), managing perioperative care, and coordinating with medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists. The role involves participation in tumor boards,
documentation of clinical care, adherence to clinical protocols, and contribution to quality improvement initiatives.
The Surgical
Oncologist is also expected to provide patient and family counseling, engage in CME activities, and support training and mentoring of junior medical staff where applicable.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Surgical Oncology and Cancer Treatment, with the ability to manage a broad spectrum of oncologic conditions.
- Solid foundation in Medicine and Cancer biology to guide evidence-based clinical decision-making.
- Demonstrated proficiency in various oncologic procedures
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and completed residency in General Surgery, followed by MCh /DNB in surgical oncology
- Valid medical license and registration with relevant medical councils or regulatory bodies.
- Excellent clinical judgment, manual dexterity, and adherence to surgical safety and infection control standards.
- Strong communication skills for patient counseling, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clear documentation.
- Commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory patient care and willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and research activities where applicable.
