Best Buy™ India is seeking a Software Engineer I (Data) to play a key role in delivering software products for Best Buy’s Business Data Domain team. You will work with Product Managers, User Experience Designers, Architects, and other team members to modernize and build products that align to the product team’s vision and strategy. The engineering of these products will leverage multi-cloud platforms, human centered design, Agile and DevOps principles to deliver industry leading solutions at high velocity with unrivaled quality.

You will work on a team of talented software engineering professionals, leading by example, and mentoring others. All of this will be done by embracing inclusive behaviors, working through ambiguity, demonstrating a strong attention to detail, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Team Overview:

- The Data and AI enablement teams are enabling capabilities to accelerate end to end data and AI adoption across Advanced Analytics, Product Teams, and Best Buy Sales and Operations Teams. The broader team is responsible for data strategy, availability, and adoption via self-service tools including AI model registry, activation of models for business, multichannel testing, and customer relationship measurement. This team is committed to delivering the right data and AI solutions following the guidelines provided in our “Responsible AI principles”.

Business Data Domain:

- The Business Data Domain team is a part of the Data Availability and Adoption team within the broader Data & AI enablement organization. The team partners with key internal teams employ modern engineering practices to design, build, and launch capabilities supporting both Best Buy’s customer needs and Best Buy’s business objectives and key results.



The team is responsible for both architecting new solutions and modernizing existing systems while supporting the adoption of engineering practices, fostering inclusive ways of collaborating, and pioneering new ways of working.

Key Responsibilities:

- Independently complete small- to medium-sized features and defects
- Participates in team planning activities
- Able to triage simple issues independently, and more complex issues with some assistance
- Participate in technical design and review of features, with guidance
- Consistently follow best practices and guidelines
- Help to mentor new team members
- Know how to prioritize your own work
- Understand the business supported by your applications
- Proactively communicate status and issues to their manager
- Propose ideas within the team to increase effectiveness through automation
- Focused learning to attain expertise in one or more technical areas
- Show a commitment to delivery deadlines, in particular seasonal and vendor partner deadlines that are critical to Best Buy’s continued success

Requirements:

- 3+ years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s or associate degree, OR equivalent. Including:
- 2+ years of hands-on SQL development experience solving standard data engineering and analytics use cases (preferably using GCP)
- Experience with DML/DDL operations (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, MERGE)
- 1+ years of experience in tuning data models for performance and data quality, including partitioning
- 1+ years of hands-on knowledge on multiple programming languages (preferably Python)




- 1+ years of experience with cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)
- 1+ years of practitioner level knowledge of large-scale data warehouse and BI tools migration to Google Cloud data lake

Preferred:

- Strong understanding of Retail, Product lifecycle management
- Passion for staying up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends
- Proactive in learning current skills and sharing knowledge with the team
- Ability to balance technical considerations with business requirements
