Overview

Seeking a Staff Engineer (Product Development) focused on building large-scale, cloud-based platforms for timely, accurate data access across products and delivery channels. The role emphasizes Java/Spring Boot microservices, AWS-based architecture, API development, distributed systems, and modern engineering practices. Includes rotational production monitoring aligned to US Pacific Time Zone hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on software design and development using Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, and Java/J2EE technologies.

- Develop microservices, RESTful services, asynchronous APIs, and web applications for multiple products and clients.
- Apply security schemes such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, Basic Authentication, and APIM security configuration.
- Implement architectural solutions using AWS design principles, best practices, and industry standards.
- Develop highly distributed and scalable software applications.
- Maintain code quality through test coverage and test cases.
- Communicate technical and architectural decisions to product, development, and delivery teams.
- Drive continual improvement (defect prevention, root-cause analysis, process/technology improvements).
- Comprehend detailed project specifications and adapt to various technologies across multiple projects.
- Participate in code reviews to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Lead and mentor junior team members.




- Research and implement performance tuning/enhancements to improve infrastructure performance.
- Participate in rotational production system monitoring (US Pacific Time Zone-aligned hours).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in engineering roles (e.g., technical lead, software engineer, lead/engineering positions).
- Strong experience with Java/Spring Boot microservices and cloud-based development (preferably AWS).
- Exposure to AI tools/technologies (Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, LLMs, ML, MCP, or similar).
- Experience designing/developing API proxies in vendor products such as Apigee and AWS API Gateway.
- Deep experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Security Groups, ELB, Elastic Cache, Beanstalk, Redshift, Lambda, API Gateway, Kafka, SQS, SNS, SES, CloudFormation).
- 3+ years using AWS to architect/deploy reliable, cost-effective, scalable, secure cloud-native solutions.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Understanding of distributed applications (system integration, testing, troubleshooting).
- Experience monitoring health of distributed systems; strategies for error detection and recovery.
- Systems integration experience (API design/development, real-time systems, microservices).




- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and testing frameworks; CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, CLI.
- Experience integrating with asynchronous messaging/logging/queueing (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Solid knowledge of software development process and project management methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Team player with experience working with globally distributed teams.
