POSITION SUMMARY

HVAC Design Engineer with 5+ years of specialized experience in the Life Sciences sector (Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Cleanrooms, and R&D; Laboratories). The candidate will lead mechanical HVAC system design from conceptual phase to commissioning, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards (GMP/FDA/ISO).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

System Design & Engineering

● Design HVAC, BMS, and process ventilation systems tailored for cleanroom environments (ISO 5–ISO 8 classification, Grade A–D), containment labs (BSL-2/BSL-3), and secondary manufacturing facilities.

Calculations & Sizing

● Perform heat load calculations, pressure differential mapping, air change rate (ACPH)



estimations, and equipment sizing (chillers, AHUs, LAFs, dehumidifiers, exhaust systems).

Regulatory Compliance

● Ensure all mechanical designs strictly comply with cGMP, WHO, EU-GMP, US FDA, ASHRAE 62.1/170, and ISO 14644 standards.

Documentation

● Prepare Conceptual Design Reports (CDR), Basis of Design (BOD), Heat Load Sheets, Ducting & Piping Layouts, Equipment Schedules, and P&IDs.;

Cross-Discipline Coordination

● Work alongside architectural, structural, electrical, and process piping disciplines using 3D BIM workflows (Revit/Navisworks) to perform spatial planning and clash detection.

Validation Support

● Assist validation teams in drafting Design Qualification (DQ) protocols, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and commissioning/qualification documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education

● Bachelor's Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

● Minimum 5 years of dedicated HVAC design experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, life science, or specialty cleanroom projects.

Software Proficiency

● Drafting/Modelling: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks.

● Load Calculations: HAP (Carrier), TRACE 700 / 3D, or equivalent heat load simulation software.

Technical Knowledge

● In-depth understanding of cleanroom air balance, cascade pressures, air filtration (HEPA/ULPA), and humidity control systems.

● Direct experience with chilled water plants, once-through air systems, VRF, and energy recovery systems.

Certifications (Preferred)

● Skilled Engineer (PE) license, LEED AP, or ASHRAE Certification (Certified HVAC Designer).
