SENIOR IMS-QEHS CONSULTANT

1. Position Details

Position: Senior IMS-QEHS Consultant

Function: Consulting & Professional Services

Location: Hyderabad / PAN India

Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract / Consultant

Reporting To: Practice Head / Director – Consulting

Travel: Willingness to travel to client locations as required

3. Job Purpose The Senior IMS-QEHS Consultant will be responsible for leading and delivering management system consulting, implementation, audit and improvement projects for clients.

The role requires strong practical knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, the ability to independently manage client assignments, conduct audits and gap assessments, develop and review documentation, train client personnel and support organizations in implementing effective management systems.

The consultant will act as a trusted advisor to client management and process owners, ensuring that projects are delivered effectively, professionally and within agreed timelines.

4. Key Responsibilities

A. IMS-QEHS Consulting

- Lead implementation and improvement projects for:
- ISO 9001 – Quality Management Systems
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Conduct initial assessments, gap assessments and compliance assessments.
- Develop project implementation plans and consulting schedules.
- Facilitate process identification, interaction and risk-based process management.
- Assist clients in establishing practical and effective management systems.
- Support integration of Quality, Environment and OH&S; systems into a unified IMS-QEHS framework.
- Review existing systems and identify opportunities for improvement.

B. Documentation & System Development

- Develop, review and improve:
- IMS-QEHS Manuals
- Policies and objectives
- Procedures and SOPs
- Work Instructions
- Risk & Opportunity Registers
- Environmental Aspect & Impact Registers
- Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments
- Operational controls
- Legal and compliance registers
- Emergency preparedness procedures
- Monitoring and measurement formats
- Audit and Management Review documentation
- Ensure documentation is practical, user-friendly and aligned with organizational processes.

C. Auditing & Assessments

- Conduct internal audits as per ISO 19011 principles.
- Conduct IMS-QEHS gap assessments and compliance audits.
- Prepare audit plans, checklists and reports.
- Identify nonconformities, observations and improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Verify effectiveness of corrective actions.




- Participate in pre-assessment and certification audit preparation.
- Support clients during Stage 1, Stage 2 and surveillance audits, where applicable.

D. Training & Capability Development

- Deliver training programs related to:
- ISO 9001
- ISO 14001
- ISO 45001
- IMS-QEHS Awareness
- Internal Auditor
- Risk-Based Thinking
- Environmental Aspects & Impacts
- HIRA / Risk Assessment
- Legal Compliance
- Emergency Preparedness
- Corrective Action & Root Cause Analysis
- Conduct workshops for management and process owners.
- Develop training presentations, exercises, case studies and assessment materials.

E. Client Management

- Act as the primary consultant for assigned projects.
- Conduct effective client meetings and presentations.
- Understand client requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
- Communicate project progress, risks, delays and action items.
- Maintain professional relationships with client management and key stakeholders.
- Handle client queries and provide technically sound recommendations.
- Identify opportunities for additional consulting, training and improvement services.

F. Project Management

- Independently manage multiple consulting assignments.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules and action trackers.
- Ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Monitor project milestones and deliverables against agreed scope.
- Coordinate with other Smartedge consultants and subject-matter experts.
- Maintain project records, reports and client communication.
- Escalate project risks and critical issues to the Practice Head / Management.

5. Additional QEHS Exposure

Candidates with exposure to the following areas will be preferred:

7. Educational & Skilled Qualifications

Essential:

- Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Engineering / Science / Management or relevant discipline.
- Formal training in relevant ISO management system standards.
- Internal Auditor / Lead Auditor qualification in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.

Preferred:

- Multiple Lead Auditor qualifications.
- NEBOSH / IOSH / Safety-related qualifications.
- Environmental or sustainability qualifications.
- CQI/IRCA or equivalent recognized auditor qualification.
- Additional qualifications in Risk Management, ESG, Energy or Sustainability.

8. Experience Preferred Experience: 7–12+ years of relevant experience in IMS-QEHS consulting, implementation, auditing or industry.

Candidates should preferably have

- Experience in consulting or management system implementation.
- Experience independently handling client assignments.
- Experience conducting internal audits and gap assessments.
- Experience developing management system documentation.
- Experience conducting management system training.
- Experience interacting with client management and process owners.
- Exposure to manufacturing / pharma / food / infrastructure / construction / logistics or other industrial sectors.

9. Key Performance Indicators – KPIs

Performance will be evaluated based on:

1. Successful completion of assigned consulting projects.
2. Quality and timely submission of deliverables.
3. Client satisfaction and feedback.
4. Number and quality of audits / assessments completed.
5. Training delivery effectiveness.
6. Ability to independently manage client assignments.
7. Compliance with project schedules and timelines.
8. Repeat business and client relationship development.
9. Identification of additional consulting opportunities.
10. Contribution to Smartedge consulting methodologies, templates and knowledge development.

10. Expected Role Level The Senior Consultant is expected to function as an independent project consultant, rather than only as an executing consultant. The person should be capable of:

Assess → Plan → Consult → Implement → Audit → Report → Improve with limited supervision.

The role also provides an opportunity to progress toward:

Senior Consultant → Lead Consultant → Practice Lead → Principal Consultant / Practice Head
