Job Summary

We are seeking an all-round, highly practical Plant Manager cum Plant Supervisor cum Operator to lead our ginger and turmeric washing, slicing, and drying facility. This role requires a mix of strategic ownership, intense on-the-floor supervision, and hands-on machinery operation.

You will head the facility directly from the shop floor. You will be responsible for setting production targets, directly supervising your Assistant and the ITI-trained team, physically operating the processing line, and planning the entire maintenance master schedule for the plant, machinery, boilers, and utility sections to ensure near-zero downtime.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hands-on Plant Operation

- Directly operate and calibrate critical processing machinery, including automated raw material feeding systems, continuous dryers, and high-speed slicing units.
- Monitor control panels, PLCs, and VFDs to constantly adjust line speeds, temperature profiles, and airflow according to raw material moisture levels.
- Perform first-line mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting alongside your technical team during active shifts.

2. Shop-Floor Leadership & Executive Management

- Take complete ownership of the plant's production targets, yield calculations, worker shift scheduling, and operational costs.
- Maintain a constant, physical presence on the floor to closely monitor the workflow from raw ginger/turmeric intake to final dried sorting and packaging.
- Directly manage and delegate tasks to the Assistant Plant Manager to ensure smooth operations across shifts.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards (ORGANIC, HACCP, GMP, FSSAI) and guarantee that final dried products meet moisture targets (under 10–12%) to retain curcumin and gingerol quality.

Maintenance Planning & Asset Management

- Design, implement, and track the Master Preventive Maintenance (PM) Schedule for all plant machinery, including root-crop washers, high-speed slicers, continuous mesh-belt/heat-pump dryers, and grinding/packaging sections.
- Plan and schedule maintenance, shutdowns, and statutory inspections for the Boiler and Utility sections (including DG sets, water treatment/softening plants, and air compressors), coordinating closely with the Assistant Plant Manager.
- Review breakdown patterns, analyze root causes of equipment failure, and optimize maintenance intervals to maximize machinery lifespans.
- Formulate budgets for spare parts and engineering consumables, ensuring the engineering store is adequately stocked for emergencies without over-capitalizing.

4. Crop Scheduling & Raw Material Planning

- Develop and align the processing schedule with the regional crop calendars for ginger and turmeric to optimize factory utilization during peak harvest seasons.
- Coordinate closely with the Procurement/Sourcing Team to plan daily and weekly raw material arrival charts, preventing heavy field-fresh rhizome accumulation or plant idle time.
- Estimate raw material weight loss, shrinkage, and curing dynamics during seasonal transitions to adjust processing capacities proactively.
- Oversee the grading, inspection, and inventory management of fresh arrivals, ensuring a steady, First-In, First-Out (FIFO) feed into the washing line.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Diploma or B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, or Food Engineering.
- Experience: 6–10 years of hands-on experience in a food processing or spice manufacturing plant. Proven experience working directly with automated conveyor/drying lines is mandatory.
- Technical Competence: Advanced understanding of industrial engineering, preventive maintenance scheduling, steam distribution infrastructure, and utility management.
- Language: Fluency in the English and Hindi language is mandatory.
