Company Description Arjuna Space AI India focuses on geospatial intelligence solutions for oceans and agriculture, using advanced data analytics and AI-driven models. The organization applies satellite imagery, oceanographic data, and environmental information to support sustainable resource management and climate-resilient practices. Team members collaborate across disciplines to transform complex geospatial datasets into actionable insights for industry, research, and policy applications.
The company offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge tools and contribute to projects with tangible environmental and societal impact.
Role Description This full-time, on-site Physical Oceanography Researcher role is based in Pune City. The researcher will analyze oceanographic datasets, including satellite observations, in-situ measurements, and model outputs, to study physical processes such as circulation, waves, and ocean-atmosphere interactions. Daily tasks include designing and executing research studies, developing and validating numerical and statistical models, and integrating geospatial ocean data into the company’s intelligence platforms.
The role involves preparing technical reports, publishing findings, contributing to project proposals, and collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and domain experts. The researcher will also support the translation of scientific results into practical tools and visualizations for internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess solid research skills, including designing studies, analyzing complex datasets, and interpreting results in the context of physical oceanography.
- Candidates should possess experience collaborating with domain specialists (e.g., environmental scientists, marine experts, or interdisciplinary teams) to apply oceanographic knowledge to real-world problems.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with clinical or applied research frameworks, such as systematic data collection, protocol development, and rigorous documentation of methods and outcomes.
- Candidates should possess the ability to work with specialized subject areas (e.g., climate-related ocean processes, coastal dynamics, or pollution pathways) and connect them to broader environmental and societal impacts.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Physical Oceanography, Marine Science, Ocean Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in scientific programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R) and experience with geospatial tools (e.g., GIS, remote sensing software) is highly beneficial.
- Strong quantitative skills, knowledge of numerical modeling, and familiarity with oceanographic data formats (e.g., NetCDF, GRIB) are advantageous.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to present complex findings clearly, and capacity to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, on-site environment in Pune City.
