Role Description The Patient Benefits Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patients’ insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits with accuracy and efficiency. This full-time, on-site role is based in Kolkata and involves daily coordination with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams to confirm coverage for services, estimate patient responsibility, and address benefit-related questions. The specialist reviews documentation, updates patient records, and ensures that all benefit information is captured correctly in internal systems.
The role includes handling inbound and outbound calls or digital inquiries, resolving discrepancies in coverage, and escalating complex cases as needed. The position also requires adherence to confidentiality, compliance standards,
and performance targets while maintaining a professional, patient-focused approach.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong insurance and healthcare benefits knowledge, including experience with eligibility checks, policy coverage, and pre-authorization processes.
- Candidates should possess data entry and documentation skills, with accuracy in updating patient records, managing spreadsheets, and working with CRM or practice management systems.
- Candidates should possess communication and customer service skills, including clear verbal and written communication, active listening, and a professional, empathetic manner with patients and partners.
- Candidates should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret policy information, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on pending or denied benefits.
- Candidates should possess organizational and time management skills, including working effectively in a high-volume environment, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines and quality targets.
- Relevant qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; a graduate degree or coursework in healthcare, business, or related fields is an advantage.
- Prior experience in medical billing, insurance verification, revenue cycle, or healthcare customer support is preferred; familiarity with HIPAA or similar data privacy regulations is beneficial.
- Comfort working in an on-site, process-driven environment in Kolkata, with flexibility for shifts aligned to business needs.
