Role Description The New Product Development Engineer will work on the full lifecycle of boon’s home water purification systems, from concept to launch, in a full-time, on-site role based in Gurugram. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing mechanical components, developing and iterating product concepts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into technical requirements. The role involves conducting research and development activities, prototyping and testing systems, and optimizing designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
The engineer will work closely with industrial designers, electronics and software teams, and manufacturing partners to ensure timely delivery and quality of new products. Additional responsibilities include documenting design decisions, supporting validation and certification processes,
and contributing to continuous improvement of existing product lines.
You'll work in the R&D; team on Boon's water purification devices. The job involves taking a product concept and coordinating with mechanical, electronics, and firmware teams to move it toward a working prototype. You'll also do some hands-on bench work alongside that.
What You'll Do
- Break a new concept into tasks across hardware, firmware, and mechanical
- Communicate requirements between teams - mechanical design, electronics, firmware
- Prototype and test sensor and electronics integrations
- Write and debug embedded C/C++ firmware
- Read datasheets to identify signals, voltages, and interfaces
- Maintain and update product documentation
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in BTech - ECE/Mechanical
- Ability to understand a new concept and figure out what needs to be done across teams
- Basic electronics : circuits, ADC, signal levels, reading schematics
- Hands-on embedded C/C++ : worked on boards like ESP32, Raspberry Pi
- Familiarity with UART, I2C, SPI
- Basic idea of IoT communication protocols (MQTT / REST)
Valuable to Have
- Have designed or printed parts on a 3D printer
- Prior project work involving sensors, IoT, or consumer hardware
- Comfortable with Excel for data logging and basic analysis
- Can put together clear presentations to share progress or findings with the team
