The Department of Archaeology at the University of York is one of the largest in the UK, with over 100 staff and over 600 UK and international students located on Heslington West Campus. We provide international, impact-oriented and interdisciplinary teaching and research of the highest quality and have a strong network of partnerships. BioArCh is a centre of excellence within the Department which is recognised for strengths in the analysis of human, animal and plant remains and molecular techniques — proteins, lipids, DNA and stable isotopes.



As a vibrant inter-disciplinary research community we participate in a wide range of large international research projects and we are a national node for the UK's Research Infrastructure for Conservation and Heritage Science (AHRC RICHeS).

Role

We seek to appoint a Grade 4 laboratory technician on an open basis. You will join a vibrant research community of academic members of staff, research staff, and post-graduate students. As a technician in BioArCh, you will develop valuable experience and skills alongside our expert technical team and contribute directly to our high quality research in archaeological science. The role will include operational, laboratory, and instructional duties. You will be instrumental in the continuous operation of the laboratory facilities, prepare a wide variety of archaeological samples for scientific analyses, and assist with training students and facilitating their projects.
