Position Summary

The Medical Coding Manager is a leadership-first role responsible for managing and developing a high-performing coding team. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator and experienced people manager who can drive operational excellence, build a strong team culture, and serve as the bridge between offshore and onshore stakeholders. They will oversee daily operations, ensure the team meets all performance targets, lead audit initiatives, manage project timelines, and deliver transparent performance insights to senior leadership.

The role also involves conducting coding and billing compliance reviews across various specialties, including inpatient, outpatient, and professional services. Candidates are expected to have working knowledge of the Official ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding Guidelines, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines, Federal and State regulations, AHA coding guidelines including the Coding Clinic, AMA CPT Assistant publications, and AHIMA compliant query guidelines. Technical coding proficiency will be assessed separately during the selection process.

As a Medical Coding Manager on the Regulatory Healthcare Practice team, you will be responsible for:

Manage daily operations for the medical coding team, including work allocation, quality oversight, and performance tracking across coding workflows.
Lead coding and billing compliance reviews across inpatient, outpatient, professional, and risk-adjustment-related engagements, including validation of clinical documentation and Hierarchical Condition Category capture support.
Review coding edits, rejections, denials, claims adjudication, and payment outcomes; perform root cause analysis; and identify documentation improvement opportunities.
Oversee onboarding, training, mentoring, and remedial education for coding professionals based on audit findings, quality trends, and business needs.
