Humanitarian Specialist
India (No Local)

This position supports the Welfare and Self-Reliance Services Department to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus, furthering the mission of the Church. This position reports to the Regional Humanitarian Manager
Responsibilities
- Assist the Regional Humanitarian Manager to coordinate humanitarian efforts within India
- Plan and execute humanitarian projects in alignment with Area priorities
- Coordinate with departments to ensure humanitarian projects are ontrack and completed timely per the project plan
- Supervise and train senior missionaries and volunteers in carrying out the humanitarian projects development and execution
- Build and maintain relationships with local communities, government officials, and NGOs
- Develop and manage project budgets in accordance with the relevant compliance principles and organization policies and standards.
- Compile internal reports, prepare payment requisitions, and provide other related financial support
- Assist to manage project proposals and project oversight including keeping within budget
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 6 years’ in project management or relevant experience
- Proven work ethics, honesty and integrity in all dealings
- Good customer service and follow up skills
- Must have robust computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and internet software)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and an Indian language
- Strong commitment to meeting deadlines
- Must be able to work collaboratively and travel up to 40% of the time
