The Role
We’re hiring an HR Generalist to build and lead the people function as Eduzone scales.
The role will own recruitment across our growing organization while establishing the HR systems, processes, and practices that support employees throughout their lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to performance, development, and retention.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can operate independently, build structure where it doesn’t yet exist, and use HR data and technology to help leadership make better workforce decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
Own end-to-end recruitment for open roles, including sourcing, screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer management
Work with the Head of Operations and department heads to translate role requirements into clear job descriptions, interview processes, and scorecards
Build and maintain a repeatable hiring pipeline for ongoing recruitment needs
Develop effective sourcing strategies across relevant channels and talent pools
Track recruitment metrics and continuously improve hiring effectiveness
Maintain a robust candidate experience throughout the recruitment process
People Operations & Onboarding
Design and manage the employee lifecycle covering recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance reviews, transfers, and exits
Design and run structured 30 -60 -90 day onboarding plans for new hires
Establish and maintain HR policies, processes, documentation, and employee records
Continuously identify opportunities to simplify, standardize,
and improve HR processes
Assist in evaluating and implementing HRIS, ATS, attendance, payroll, and other HR technology as needed
Workforce Planning & People Analytics
Maintain the organizational structure and headcount plan across departments
Work with department heads to identify current and future workforce requirements
Track headcount, hiring pipeline, attrition, attendance, leave, and other key workforce metrics
Build regular HR reports and dashboards to give leadership visibility into workforce trends and people-related costs
Use workforce data to identify gaps, bottlenecks, retention risks, and opportunities for improvement
Support management in making data-informed decisions around hiring, team structure, and workforce capacity
Employee Relations, Payroll & Compliance
Act as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and people-related matters
Handle employee relations issues fairly, consistently, and confidentially
Coordinate monthly payroll inputs including attendance, leave, incentives, deductions, and employee changes, working closely with Finance to process payroll
Maintain working knowledge of applicable employment and labour laws, and flag compliance considerations to leadership and Finance as needed
Develop and maintain HR policies covering areas such as attendance, leave, conduct, grievance handling, and employee separation
Performance, Development & Engagement
Design and implement a structured performance management framework covering goal setting, probation reviews, regular feedback, performance reviews, and improvement plans
Work with department heads to establish clear roles, responsibilities, KPIs, and performance expectations
Identify training and development needs across teams and support relevant initiatives
Develop practical employee engagement and retention initiatives based on employee feedback and workforce insights
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
2+ years of experience in HR, recruitment, talent acquisition, or people operations, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end HR processes
Experience working in a growing small or mid-size organization is strongly preferred
Proven ability to independently manage recruitment and core HR operations with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of employee lifecycle processes and HR policies, with working knowledge of applicable employment and labour laws
Comfortable building processes and systems from the ground up rather than simply maintaining existing ones
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to work with HR data, reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards
Comfortable working with HRIS, ATS, attendance, payroll, and other HR technology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English and Malayalam
Based in or willing to relocate to Calicut, Kerala
Nice to Have
Experience hiring for sales, admissions, education, or other target-driven roles
Experience in the education, international education, or student services sector
Experience building HR dashboards, reports, or people analytics
HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent
Experience working in a startup or rapidly growing organization
Experience helping a company professionalize and scale its people processes
