Role Description The Histopathology Technician role is a full-time, in office position based in Bengaluru. The technician will be responsible for receiving, labeling, and processing tissue specimens, including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining in accordance with established protocols. Daily tasks include operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing slides for microscopic examination, and ensuring proper documentation, labeling, and storage of samples.
The role involves close collaboration with pathologists and other laboratory staff to support timely and accurate diagnoses, while adhering to quality control procedures, biosafety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
The technician will also assist in maintaining inventory, tracking consumables, and supporting continuous improvement in laboratory workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Histology and Pathology, with the ability to understand and apply tissue processing and diagnostic principles.
- Knowledge of Human Anatomy to accurately identify and handle different tissue types and correlate clinical information with specimens.
- Proficient Laboratory Skills, including specimen handling, slide preparation, staining techniques, and equipment operation.
- Understanding of Laboratory Medicine practices, including quality control, biosafety, and documentation standards.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field; specialized training in histopathology is an advantage.
- Prior experience in a histopathology or clinical laboratory setting preferred, with familiarity in working in a regulated healthcare environment.
- Attention to detail, ability to follow standard operating procedures, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with pathologists, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
