Role Description The Draftsman role at UMI is a hybrid position based in Mumbai, with some flexibility for work from home, and is a full time opportunity. The Draftsman will prepare detailed engineering drawings and layouts for equipment and systems such as CRP, MEE, ATFD, and SS using CAD software and relevant design standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting design concepts and specifications, creating and revising technical drawings, coordinating with design and project engineers, and ensuring drawing accuracy and compliance with industry and company guidelines.





The role involves maintaining drawing records, supporting documentation for projects, and assisting in design optimization and clash resolution. The Draftsman will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design queries and contribute to timely and efficient project execution.

Qualifications

- Strong CAD drafting skills (e.g., AutoCAD, other 2D/3D drafting tools) and ability to prepare detailed engineering drawings and layouts.
- Knowledge of mechanical or process equipment design, preferably related to ZLD systems, evaporators, dryers, or industrial plants.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, P&IDs;, GA drawings, and technical specifications with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of relevant industry standards, tolerances, materials, and fabrication practices used in industrial engineering projects.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working with engineers, project managers, and vendors in a hybrid work environment.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or a related discipline; prior experience as a Draftsman in industrial or process engineering is preferred.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple drawings and revisions, with proficiency in basic office and documentation tools.
- Interest in sustainable and environmentally responsible engineering solutions, with willingness to learn and adapt to evolving technologies.
