: Data Migration Architect (SQL / SSIS to Salesforce)

Role Overview The Data Migration Architect will lead the end‑to‑end design, planning, and execution of data migration initiatives from SQL Server–based environments (including SSIS packages) into Salesforce. This role requires deep expertise in data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, SSIS optimisation, and Salesforce data models. The architect will define migration strategies, govern data quality, and ensure secure, compliant, and high‑fidelity movement of enterprise data into Salesforce.

Key Responsibilities

Migration Architecture & Design

- Design and own the overall data migration architecture from SQL Server sources into Salesforce.

- Analyse existing SQL/SSIS pipelines and define transformation logic, mapping rules, and staging strategies.

- Establish best‑practice migration frameworks including delta loads, reconciliation processes, and rollback strategies.

- Define data quality, validation, and exception‑handling rules across the migration lifecycle.

ETL/SSIS Development & Optimisation
- Review, enhance, and modernise SSIS packages to support required transformations, performance standards, and governance policies.

- Implement data cleansing, enrichment, and harmonisation steps as required for Salesforce compatibility.

- Ensure efficient handling of large datasets, including partitioning, batching, and API‑aware load strategies.

Salesforce Data Integration
- Architect and implement data loading patterns using Salesforce APIs (Bulk, REST, SOAP), Data Loader, or MuleSoft where applicable.





- Develop and document Salesforce object mappings, lookups, deduplication logic, and relationship reconstruction.

- Ensure compliance with Salesforce governor limits, data volume restrictions, and performance constraints.

Data Governance & Quality Assurance
- Define and implement data validation rules, reconciliation controls, and data quality scorecards.

- Collaborate with business stakeholders and SMEs to validate mapping logic and data acceptance criteria.

- Oversee data auditing, lineage tracking, and traceability of migrated data.

Stakeholder Communication & Leadership
- Act as the primary SME for all migration activities, providing technical leadership and architectural governance.

- Work closely with Salesforce architects, developers, and business teams to ensure alignment across systems.

- Own migration documentation, including architecture diagrams, mapping documentation, and runbooks.

Testing & Cutover Support
- Lead data migration test phases: unit, system, SIT/UAT, and performance testing.

- Plan and execute cutover activities, including dry runs, load rehearsals, and post‑migration verification.





- Provide hypercare support during and after go‑live.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

- Strong expertise in SQL Server, T‑SQL, and SSIS ETL development.

- Proven experience delivering large, complex data migrations into Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or custom orgs.

- Deep knowledge of Salesforce data structures, APIs, bulk loading patterns, and governor limits.

- Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce Data Loader, MuleSoft, Azure Data Factory, Jitterbit, or similar ETL tooling.

- Experience with data modelling, staging setting design, and performance tuning.

Professional Skills
- Strong communication and documentation skills, capable of working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

- Ability to lead large migration workstreams in multi‑vendor or multi‑system environments.

- Experience with Agile delivery and DevOps pipelines for data deployments (nice to have).

Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce certifications: Data Architect, Integration Architect, Platform App Builder, or equivalent.

- Microsoft certifications in SQL/SSIS or Azure Data Engineering.

- Experience with CRM modernisation or digital transformation programmes.
