Creative Designer (Motion + Brand + Product)
Location: Kolkata — in-office The short version
We’re an AI and data products company building for B2B and consumer users, which means on any given week we need a dashboard screen, a launch film, a sales deck, five Instagram carousels, and a set of app onboarding animations — usually all at once.
We’re not hiring a graphic designer. Or a video editor. Or a UI designer. We’re hiring someone who wants to be all three, and who’d rather be at the messy centre of a product than in a specialist lane.
How we work (read this part carefully)
We don’t live inside Figma here. Figma is where you think, sketch, and align on direction, but it is not the deliverable. The deliverable is the real thing: a live page, a working screen, a finished film.
That means we build straight through to code, using Claude Code and Codex to get there. You are not handing off a Figma file and waiting for an engineer. You’re taking your own design to something that runs in a browser.
If you’ve never done this, that’s fine. If you’re unwilling to learn it, this isn’t the role.
What you’ll actually do
- Design marketing assets across our product line — social posts, carousels, landing pages, sales decks, event collateral
- Build and ship those pages yourself, prompting your way through the code with Claude Code or Codex and fixing the HTML and CSS by hand when it comes out wrong
- Cut short-form video: product demos, founder clips, podcast highlights. Hook-first, retention-aware editing
- Build motion graphics — logo animations, kinetic type, explainer sequences, micro-animations for in-app flows
- Work on product UI: dashboards, mobile screens, data visualisation, design system components
- Storyboard brand videos before anyone touches a timeline
- Keep the brand consistent across every product and platform we touch
Expect to move between all of these in a single week. That’s the job, not a warning. What you need to have (non-negotiable)
Design tools
- Figma — comfortable building screens, components, and marketing layouts. Not just tracing tutorials
- Premiere Pro (or DaVinci) — you can take raw footage to a finished cut with pacing that holds attention
- After Effects — at least the fundamentals: keyframes, easing,
masks, simple text and shape animation
- Photoshop / Illustrator — enough to clean up, compose, and vectorise without asking for help
Building
- HTML and CSS — you can open a page, read the layout, change it, and understand why it broke. Flexbox and grid shouldn’t scare you
- Claude Code or Codex — you’ve used AI coding tools to actually build something, not just to ask questions. You know how to break a task down, prompt it properly, read what it gives you back, and correct it
- A working understanding of what “shipped” means. A design that only exists as a file isn’t finished
Craft
- Visual fundamentals you can defend: type, hierarchy, grid, colour, spacing. You should be able to explain why something is 24px and not 20px
- Taste. Show us work you made because you wanted to, not because a brief told you to
- Speed. In a startup, a good asset today beats a perfect one next Thursday
Working style
- You take feedback on the work without taking it personally
- You ask questions before you start, not after you’ve spent a day going the wrong direction
- You can write a decent hook, caption, or one-line headline. Design and copy aren’t separate jobs here
- You’re in Kolkata and can work from our office
To apply you must have a portfolio. Behance, a personal site, a Notion page, a Google Drive folder — format doesn’t matter. Having nothing to show does. Brownie points (genuinely, not filler)
None of these are required. Each one moves you up the list.
- React, Next.js, or Tailwind — beyond the basics of HTML and CSS
- Remotion or Framer Motion — building motion in code instead of on a timeline
- Lottie or Rive — you’ve exported animations that actually shipped into a product
- A wider AI toolkit — Midjourney, ElevenLabs, Higgsfield, Runway, Seedance, nano banana. Not as a gimmick; as a way to get to good faster
- You’ve grown something of your own — an Instagram page, a YouTube channel, a client account. Numbers you can point at
- Audio and podcast editing — mixing, cleanup, clipping long-form into short
- Colour grading that isn’t just a LUT dropped on top
- 3D or illustration — Blender, Spline, or a drawing hand
- Comfort with data — you find charts, graphs, and dashboards interesting rather than boring
- Design systems — you’ve built or maintained one, even a small one
- You follow fintech, AI, or B2B products and have opinions about which ones look good
Who this is for
We don’t care where you studied, whether you studied design at all, or how old you are. Self-taught, someone switching in from another field — all fine, as long as the portfolio holds up.
We do care that you’re hungry to be a generalist. If your goal is to become the best pure motion designer in the country, this role will frustrate you and you’ll frustrate us. If your goal is to be the person a founder trusts with anything visual, this is the right room.
One hard requirement: you need at least 2 years of skilled experience. Agency, in-house, startup, or serious freelance all count — but we’re not set up to teach the fundamentals from scratch.
Where it goes
This is a full-time role with real ownership from the start. You won’t be waiting your turn behind a queue of approvals — you’ll own entire surfaces of how we look, and how fast that scope grows is up to you.
How to apply
Send an email to
[email protected] with the subject line “Creative Designer — [Your Name]”, and include:
1. Your portfolio link
2. One piece of work you’re proud of — with 3 or 4 lines on what the brief was, what you decided, and what you’d change now
3. One piece of our work you’d redo — pick anything from our site, socials, or product, and tell us what’s wrong with it. Be blunt. This is the part we read first.
4. Your best guess at the tools list above — what you’re solid at, what you’re shaky at, what you’ve never touched. Be honest; we’ll find out in week one anyway.
No cover letter. Please don’t write us a cover letter.
- Shortlisted candidates get a short-paid task before we make an offer.
