Consultant-Orthopedic Surgeon

Responsibilities Diagnose and manage orthopedic conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and spine. Conduct OPD consultations and provide inpatient care. Perform elective and emergency orthopedic surgeries.

Manage trauma, fractures, dislocations, and musculoskeletal injuries. Perform joint replacement surgeries (Hip, Knee, Shoulder) as per expertise. Perform arthroscopic procedures and sports injury management, where applicable.

Treat degenerative joint diseases, osteoporosis, and arthritis. Evaluate patients pre-operatively and provide post-operative care. Coordinate with anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and other multidisciplinary teams.

Interpret X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and other diagnostic investigations. Maintain accurate clinical documentation, operative notes, and discharge summaries. Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgery, rehabilitation, and follow-up care.

Participate in emergency and trauma services as per hospital requirements. Ensure compliance with NABH standards, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines. Participate in CMEs, clinical audits, departmental meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.

Supervise junior doctors,



residents, and allied healthcare professionals as required. Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Medical Director or Hospital Management.

Job Specification

Qualification MBBS with MS/DNB in Orthopedics. Fellowship in Arthroscopy, Joint Replacement, Spine Surgery, or Trauma (Preferred).

Registration Valid National Medical

Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council Registration.

Experience Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon in a multispecialty hospital.

Experience in trauma care, fracture management, and orthopedic surgeries is preferred.

Skills Required Expertise in diagnosing and managing orthopedic disorders. Robust surgical and clinical decision-making skills. Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities. Ability to handle orthopedic emergencies and trauma cases.

Knowledge of arthroscopy, joint replacement, and minimally invasive orthopedic procedures is an added advantage. Strong documentation and reporting skills. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
