Role Description The Coding Tutor is a part-time, remote role responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate coding lessons to learners ages 5–18 in a live online format. Day-to-day tasks include planning and structuring coding lessons, presenting concepts clearly, guiding learners through exercises and projects, and adapting teaching methods to different skill levels. The tutor will provide constructive feedback, track learner progress, and communicate with caregivers as needed to support learning goals.

The role also involves using FcC’s digital tools and curriculum resources, maintaining a safe and inclusive online classroom,



and continuously refining teaching approaches based on learner needs.

Qualifications

- Strong coding and computer science skills (e.g., basic programming concepts, problem-solving, and familiarity with kid-friendly coding platforms or languages).
- Demonstrated teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience with children or teens, with the ability to explain technical topics in easy, engaging terms.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills, with a patient, inclusive, and learner-centered approach.
- Comfort with remote teaching tools, learning management systems, and online collaboration platforms.
- Ability to plan lessons, organize instructional materials, and adapt content to different ages and proficiency levels.
- Reliable high-speed internet access and a quiet, professional workspace suitable for live online instruction.
- Availability for part-time, scheduled sessions that may include evenings or weekends, depending on learner needs.
- Relevant academic background (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or related fields) or equivalent practical experience; prior experience in online education is a plus.
