Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full time Budget & Financial Operations Specialist.
Job Details
- Location: F&M; Campus - Lancaster, PA
- Classification: Full-time, Exempt
- Schedule: 40 hours, Monday - Friday. May require evenings and weekends.
- Reports to: Director of Budget, Financial Planning & Analysis
- Department: Finance & Administration
- Approved Salary Range: Approved up to $63,500.00 annually
Reporting to the Director of Budget, Financial Planning, and Analysis, the Budget & Financial Operations Specialists supports strategic decision-making and financial stewardship at Franklin & Marshall College. This position serves as the primary operational contact and partner for campus budget managers. This role processes entries, generates campus-wide reports, and delivers continuous training, freeing strategic bandwidth for long-term institutional modeling.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for campus departments regarding budget inquiries, line-item transfers, and routine balance reconciliations. Prepare, verify, and execute budget adjustments, journal entries in alignment with institutional compliance.
- Analyze complex financial data and trends to support budget development, variance analysis, and institutional reporting.
- Design and conduct onboarding and ongoing budget training for new and existing budget managers to ensure compliance with college financial policies.
- Conduct variance analyses and assist the Director with data gathering for strategic initiatives and forecasting.
- Provide analytics for institutional initiatives, including new academic programs, facilities planning, resource allocations and realignments.
- Lead and support special projects, including cost-benefit analyses, benchmarking studies, and scenario planning.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or planning.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting.
- Proficiency with Excel and experience with financial systems.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
- Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging.
- Successful interview.
- Successful completion of background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (MBA, MPA, or related field).
- Experience with Banner.
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
- Familiarity with fund accounting and institutional budget models.
