About The Role

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join our vibrant team based out of Bengaluru. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the core infrastructure of Atomicwork’s platform. As a key contributor, you will work on large-scale, distributed systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and performant.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to influence product development from conception through deployment, acting as a technical founder with autonomy and ownership. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including design, product management, and frontend engineering to deliver innovative features that meet customer needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about solving complex technical challenges, eager to learn new technologies, and committed to delivering high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

While formal qualifications are not mandatory, we highly value practical skills and hands-on experience. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience working on complex, distributed software applications, with a proven track record of building scalable systems from scratch. Proficiency in Java and Python is essential,



along with a solid understanding of frontend development using React.

Strong database fundamentals, including knowledge of caching, query optimization, and indexing, are required, with experience in MySQL being preferred. Familiarity with APIs and building scalable platform systems is important. Candidates should also have experience managing applications on cloud infrastructure, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Good documentation practices, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to debug large codebases patiently are critical. Additionally, familiarity with code editors like Cursor and a strong sense of responsibility and cultural fit are essential for success in this role.

- Develop and maintain the foundational components of Atomicwork’s platform, focusing on usability, performance, and scalability.
- Design and implement enterprise-grade systems with high-quality standards, ensuring robustness and reliability.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, product management, and backend engineers, to develop and launch new features.
- Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and continuously improve code quality and development processes.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in backend development, recommending innovative approaches to enhance user experience.
- Take ownership of your work, acting as a technical founder for the product,



with the autonomy to make decisions that benefit the customer.
- Identify, analyze, and solve complex technical problems creatively and efficiently, ensuring system stability and performance.
- Document technical specifications and processes clearly, and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
