About the Role

The Counsellor will be responsible for effective patient counselling, surgery conversion, coordination, and ensuring smooth patient flow for eye surgeries.

Responsibilities

Counsel patients and their attendants regarding the eye surgery advised by the ophthalmologist.
Explain the nature of the procedure, benefits, expected outcomes, possible risks, recovery period, and post-operative care in simple language.
Provide appropriate information regarding cataract, LASIK, glaucoma, retinal, corneal, and other ophthalmic surgeries as per the doctor’s advice.
Understand patient concerns, fears, financial considerations, and misconceptions regarding eye surgery and provide appropriate counselling.
Explain available treatment/procedure options, lens options where applicable, surgery packages, estimated costs, and payment/insurance procedures.




Coordinate with the ophthalmologist and clinical team regarding patient queries and ensure that medical information provided to the patient is accurate and as advised by the doctor.
Coordinate patient flow from the consultation area to investigations, counselling, billing, admission, and surgery scheduling.
Ensure that patients understand the pre-operative investigations and preparations required before surgery.
Assist patients with appointment scheduling, required documentation, admission formalities, and other pre-operative requirements.
Follow up with patients who have postponed, cancelled, or not yet scheduled their surgery.
Maintain proper records of patients counselled, surgeries advised, appointments, follow-ups, and surgery status.
Maintain and update the patient counselling and follow-up register on a regular basis.
Coordinate with billing, insurance, pharmacy, OT, nursing, and other concerned departments for smooth pat
