What You'll Do

This role exists to support and scale Avalara's Workday development and enterprise system integrations at a time of increasing demand, growing backlog, and critical initiative delivery. Following recent attrition, this position is essential to ensure continuity, delivery velocity, system reliability, and sustainable engineering execution across Workday and related enterprise platforms.

The Sr. Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering outcomes across Workday development, integrations, automation, and enterprise system initiatives.

Own and deliver Workday development, integrations, enhancements, and related engineering work with a focus on reliability, scalability, maintainability, and business impact.
Contribute to high-priority engineering initiatives including AvaTax development, ELR readiness through planned SRR/ARB work, AP cutover support for Canada and the USA, and automation testing for new and existing features.
Reduce backlog by delivering high-impact engineering work with solid prioritization, execution discipline,



and ownership from requirements through production support.
Improve system performance, stability, observability, and maintainability across Workday and related enterprise platforms.
Build and improve automation capabilities to reduce manual effort, improve testing coverage, accelerate delivery, and reduce operational risk.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, finance, tax technology, PM, EIE, and engineering stakeholders to deliver business-critical outcomes.
Support the engineering Confluence overhaul by improving documentation quality, standardizing knowledge repositories, and reducing dependency on tribal knowledge.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, testing strategy, release readiness, and operational support activities to ensure high-quality delivery.
