Role Description The Peer Reviewer role at PublicPast : Journal of Public History, is a part-time, remote position.



The Peer Reviewer will critically evaluate submitted manuscripts for methodological soundness, use of primary and secondary sources, historical accuracy, and contribution to public understanding of history. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and assessing articles, providing detailed written feedback to authors, recommending revisions, and advising on the suitability of manuscripts for publication. The role also involves collaborating with editors to maintain the journal’s standards of clarity, accessibility, and intellectual integrity, as well as participating in editorial meetings and contributing to the development of review guidelines. Peer Reviewers are expected to stay current with historical scholarship in their areas of expertise and support the journal’s mission of connecting academic research with a wider audience.
