Assistant Vice President (AVP) – Compliance & AML/KYC
Organization: Mid-Size Private Bank
Function: Compliance / Financial Crime Risk Management
The AVP – Compliance & AML/KYC will support execution and day-to-day management of the Bank's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT), and Know Your Customer (KYC) framework, working closely with the VP/Head of Compliance. The role is more hands-on and execution-heavy than the VP position — owning alert investigation quality, KYC operations, and regulatory reporting output — while beginning to take on team supervision and process-ownership responsibilities as a stepping stone toward the VP role.
Key Responsibilities
AML/CFT Execution
- Support implementation and day-to-day operation of the Bank's AML/CFT framework in line with RBI Master Direction on KYC, PMLA (2002) and Rules, and FATF recommendations
- Assist in periodic AML/CFT risk assessments across customer, product, channel, and geography risk
- Monitor Transaction Monitoring System (TMS)



output; support scenario tuning and false-positive analysis under guidance from the VP

KYC & Customer Due Diligence
- Oversee day-to-day CDD/EDD execution for onboarding and periodic KYC review, including PEP checks, beneficial ownership verification, and risk categorization
- Drive KYC remediation activities and track closure of audit/regulatory observations within timelines
- Work with product and digital onboarding teams to implement KYC controls for recent products/channels (video KYC, digital lending, co-lending, etc.)

Suspicious Activity Monitoring & Reporting
- Investigate and dispose of TMS-generated alerts; prepare STR/CTR filings to FIU-IND for review and sign-off by the VP/CCO
- Maintain documentation and audit trail for alert closures and STR rationale
- Track and flag emerging typologies (mule accounts, trade-based money laundering, digital payment fraud) to the VP for scenario updates
