- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and applications using Java as part of the Life Current Business Simplification effort.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner, Product Architect, Tech Lead, and fellow engineers on the Trailblazers team to translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Participate actively in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog refinement) led by the team's Agile Lead.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code following Nationwide engineering standards and best practices,



including unit and integration testing.
- Partner with Quality Engineering to support automated testing and ensure defect-free releases.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in coordination with the team's designated production support owner.
- Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement of team engineering practices.
- Work closely with the Product Architect to ensure solutions align with target-state architecture and integration patterns.
- Support onboarding and knowledge-sharing within the team as it scales.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid, hands-on experience developing backend applications and services in Java (Java full-stack experience is a plus).
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, RESTf
