To support the development, testing, optimization and scale-up of color cosmetics and personal-care formulations by conducting laboratory trials, evaluating raw materials, performing stability studies and ensuring formulations meet defined quality, performance and regulatory requirements.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Formulation & Product Development
- Develop new formulations for color cosmetics and personal-care products.
- Conduct laboratory trials as per product briefs and customer requirements.
- Optimize existing formulations for performance, cost and stability.
- Work on products such as:
- Foundation
- Lipstick / Lip Gloss
- Mascara
- Eyeliner
- Eye Shadow
- Blush
- Skin-care products
- Hair-care / personal-care products
- Evaluate texture, shade, appearance, viscosity, spreadability, fragrance and overall product performance.
- Maintain formulation records and laboratory trial reports.
B. Raw Material Evaluation
- Evaluate current and alternate raw materials.
- Study technical specifications, COA and MSDS of raw materials.
- Conduct compatibility and performance evaluation of ingredients.
- Coordinate with Purchase/QA for approval of new raw materials.
- Maintain approved raw-material specifications.
C. Laboratory Testing
- Conduct physical and chemical testing of formulations and raw materials.
- Perform testing such as:
- pH
- Viscosity
- Specific Gravity
- Appearance
- Color / Shade
- Odor
- Texture
- Melting Point, wherever applicable
- Moisture / other product-specific parameters
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration status.
D. Stability & Compatibility Studies
- Conduct accelerated, room-temperature and other required stability studies.
- Monitor changes in:
- Color
- Odor
- Texture
- Viscosity
- pH
- Separation
- Microbial stability, in coordination with QC
- Conduct packaging compatibility studies.
- Prepare stability reports and communicate deviations to the R&D; Manager.
